MINUTES
CALLED MEETING AND WORK SESSION OF THE
ALLEGHANY COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD
The Alleghany County School Board held a called meeting and work session on February 6, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Central Office Complex in Low Moor, Virginia.
PRESENT: Gerald E. Franson; R. Craig Lane; Norman L. Persinger, Jr.; Jennifer S. Seckner; Randall S. Tucker, Chairman; and Jacob L. Wright. Also present: Eugene P. Kotulka, Superintendent; and Lorie C. Bess, Clerk.
ABSENT: Benjamin J. Truett
Chairman Tucker presided and called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The call to order was followed by a moment of silence and the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
Chairman Tucker announced the following addition to the agenda:
1. During Closed Session, the Board will also discuss Personnel Matters, pursuant to the Code of Virginia Section 2.2-3711.A.1.
CLOSED SESSION
(17-198) CODE OF VIRGINIA: COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE 2.2-1-254.A, AND PERSONNEL MATTERS 2.2-3711.A.1,
MOTION: That the School Board enter closed session to discuss Compulsory Attendance and Personnel Matters, as authorized by the Code of Virginia Sections 2.2-1-254.A and 2.2-3711.A.1,

MOTION: That the School Board return to open session from closed session.

CERTIFICATION OF EXECUTIVE SESSION
The Chairman requests a motion to certify that to the best of each member’s knowledge:
- Only public business matters lawfully exempted from opening meeting requirements by Virginia law were discussed in the closed meeting to which this certification applies; and
- Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion convening the closed meeting were heard, discussed or considered by the School Board.

(17-199) PUPIL PERSONNEL CASE #17-28
MOTION: That the Board approve the disposition of pupil personnel case #17-28, as discussed in Closed Session.

ROLL CALL VOTE: Unanimous
(17-200) Approval to replace flooring in five classrooms at MVES
Three estimates were received for replacing the carpet and tile in five rooms at Mountain View Elementary School. Tri-County Furniture was recommended for the project at a total cost of $12,478.15.
MOTION: That the Board approve Tri-County Furniture to replace the carpet and tile in five rooms at Mountain View Elementary School, at a total cost of $12,478.15.
